SMP-WEB, developed with Cayin's hardened embedded Linux, is a web-based networked digital signage system and all multimedia contents are displayed in full-screen web pages. This system supports most popular web languages, such as HTML, JavaScript, Macromedia Flash, DHTML, CSS, etc., and most popular audio/video codec and image file formats, such as MPEG 1/2, AVI, WMV, MP3, JPG, GIF, etc. In addition to video, images, animations, and texts, SMP-WEB can easily extend to provide interactive services incorporating with external devices such as touch screen, keyboard, keypad, or mouse.
The new released SMP-WEB offers some powerful features. Administrators can edit up to 9 playlists with a useful web-based management tool; each playlist can contain up to 99 pages of content (full screen HTML, Macromedia Flash, and full screen image) to be displayed on the screen. The duration of each page can be selected for better scheduling function. When a separate video is used in the HTML page, the new SMP-WEB can trigger to start and end the complete demonstration page simultaneously, following the exact duration of the video, and smoothly switch to the next page of content. You can also insert a full-screen image between two scheduled HTML pages with simple animated transition.
The new SMP-WEB also offers the function to export and import playlists from one media player to others. For larger-scale deployment, administrators can efficiently duplicate playlists to all media players without wasting time on re-configuring the same playlist for every single player repeatedly.
A significant feature of SMP-WEB is its 'log record' for monitoring status of the system, the network, the media player, and the playback for management and analysis purposes, especially for critical commercial applications, which require detailed evidences for administrators and sponsors to assure the systems' normal operation.
SMP-WEB is an open-structure and scalable platform for easy integration. This solution can be deployed either as a "networked standalone solution" or under server-client structure over IP network, and can integrate easily with customers' existing network facilities, including web server, database, storage, backup, and load balance. This solution can also support DHCP, and each media player doesn't need one static IP for remote management over the Internet.
Digital signage, also known as narrowcasting or electronic billboard, is a network of signs that use digital displays to communicate with target audiences in designate locations by high-quality video, audio, animation, graphics, and texts. Replacing and enhancing traditional signs, digital signage offers a multimedia communication platform to promote, inform, educate, and entertain specific audiences in a variety of out-of-home occasions.
